I'm in PA and my mom always made me a hot breakfast, bacon and eggs, pancakes, etc. My kids only wanted cereal, even if I made a hot breakfast, they preferred cereal.
California, and past the age of 8 or so, breakfast was "Find your own".
I ate cornpops cereal on Saturdays while watching cartoons cos that was the only day I was allowed some sugar when I was a kid . On school days I usually had tomatoes with pepper on toast... I still eat baby tomatoes for breakfast or lunch or snack everyday ... I love tomatoes :)
