Absolutely not! There are ways to make it better for a lot of people that deserve it. Lower the friggen cost first of all and have the curriculum more focused depending on the major. Use the UK as a model.
It was for me.
The advantages of a higher education go beyond potential earning power. Knowledge itself is power, the power to enhance every aspect of our lives. But in a vacuum, education achieves nothing, it must be effectively and continuously applied to realize the benefit. No matter what one's education level, there is no substitute for initiative.
As I am in my final years of working, if I could go back and change something, it would be to go to college and get a degree. When you have a degree, you can have a career and command a higher salary, than if you are just an office drone.
That being said, there is nothing wrong with learning a technical trade and going to school for that. There are many people that do not want to work in an office and would rather work with their hands, or work outside.
If you are in high school, talk to your guidance counselor about taking an evaluation or something that will help guide your choices and see what's available to you.
College is not for everyone, but you need a focus for what kind of work you want to do in life.
Hi,
I think that college is definitely worth it. You not only get to learn new
things, but also have many good friends. It is true that everyone’s experience
are not alike, but you will enjoy the college days. There will be moments when
you may regret going to college, but once your last day has come, you will
realize how many things you have acquired here.
College is where maturity creeps in along with education which makes proper sense.
