Language development has been essential for our development as humans. It did not just allow us to express our moods, emotions, thoughts and ideas with other people. It is also a means of preserving knowledge. Language is essentially inert, it's dead symbols which we perceive through our senses and interpret according to our own individual experiences. Cognition develops further as a result creating a sort of a 'snowball rolling down a hill' effect. Language and cognition go hand in hand in our development as humans.
