There was no concept of official language. Everybody spoke their own.

Farsi was the official language and when british came urdu become official language.

Humayun changed the official language of India form Turki to Farsi.

After Aurangzeb, Urdu became the official language of India.

The British retained Urdu of rall official purposes including language of the courts and district administration.
