Percentage is most of the time out of 100%. Therefore to turn it into a fraction you put it as 12/100.  To reduce this you have to divide the top and bottom numbers by a common factor (numbers that multiply to make the number, i.e 6 x 2 =12).  The factors of 12 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12  The factors of 100 are: 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100  The highest possible number which is found in the factors of both is 4.  So 12 / 4 =3  And 100 / 4 =25  Ans = 3/25
