How To Solve X+y=10 X-y=14?

X+y=10.....(1)
x-y=14......(2)
add eq.(1) and eq.(2)
2x = 24
x = 12
put the value of x into eq.(1)
12+y=10
y=2
so, values are ; x=12 and y=2

X is identical in both equation, so I'll work with him (if neither x nor y were, I'd have to make them identical)

x + y = 10

x - y = 14

x = 10 - y

x = 14 + y

Now apply "If A=B and B=C thus A=C"

10 - y = 14 + y

10 - 14 = y + y

-4 = 2y

-2 = y

We have y, now you just switch it in any equation that has x in it:

x + y = 10 will be

x - 2 = 10

x = 12
