I think it is a terrible disservice to children to not be taught science. I think that evolution is part of understanding how we evolved from australopithecus and neanderthals to homo sapiens--a facts verified by years of anthropological research. Just as we see the evolution of the great tiger, elephant throught fossil remains of the saber tooth tiger and the wooly mammoth, we also see the evolution of mankind from early hominids to modern man. Evolution is real. It is not a lie. It in no way disproves the existence of God as so many advocates of Intelligent design and Creationism proclaim.

Hey i believe that evolution is fake. But my science teacher tells me that evolution is real cuase species change to adapt to their invenriment. I believe that . But then i don't believe we were apes then turned to homo sapiens.. That's insane!i mean if we changed to homosapiens millions of years ago we would of evovled by now. I mean you think scientist say that we evovled billions of years ago wouldnt you think that after we changed to homo sapiens that we would eventually change again. And again. Thats proof that evolution is fake@i mean i am not changing rite noe except by height and weight?

Do not lecture us on science if you yourself know little about it. For something to be a theory is needs evidence. Evolution is a theory God is not. Evolution can be confirmed through tests and experiments, God can not. I am currently taking college courses in evolutionary biology so unless you too take those courses do not say how evolution is fake because the current evidence points to that it is not. Also, no recent study stated that carbon dating was incorrect.

robbier44-First of all I am not the one that says evolution has to be tested in a lab, I say evolution can't be proven or tested at all. The scientists that I mentioned don't have to belong to this century, they are evolutionary scientists that have admitted that the age of the earth cannot be proven and there are many more that say the same thing, if you like I will look them up for you, better yet look them up for yourself. Just because you don't know them doesn't mean that they don't exist, I am sure that you don't know every scientist that exists today or existed in the past. As for this physical evidence that is a fact, if evolutionists had real facts they wouldn't hesitate to show us the proof. So maybe you can show us this factual physical evidence and silence the creationists once and for all, and while your at it you might want to give us the names of some scientists that you do know and trust.

If you think evolution is fake, you're either very ignorant or you're ignoring the evidence. After all, there actually IS evidence (and plenty of it!) for evolution, and there is NONE for religion. So if anything, they should stop teaching religion in schools!

Exactly! My science teacher and I were talking about beliefs and evolution and other beliefs and I DO NOT believe in evolution, and I never will. I told her there *is* proof that evolution doesn't exist, and she was like "no there's not", but there is. I read that scientists say that the rotation of the earth slows down every year, and someone did that calculations, and if the earth actually were millions of years old, the earth would be spinning so fast everything would be flying off! According to biblical evidence, the earth is only about 6000 years old. Not only that, but there's lots of other proof that evolution does not exist. Plus the guy who came up with the theory, that darwin guy wasn't really even in his right mind when he did!!! People said that he was a dark man and was having problems in his life at the time. I think evolution is a TOTAL LIE and a bunch of crap.

There is a lot of evidence that God exists also. I am a Christian and all this evolution crap shouldn't be taught in schools! If they can teach that belief then why can't we learn about the Bible in school? If you live in America, this country was founded on Christian beliefs, too! I can't stand the evolution theory.

Wow, some of the answers to this question make me want to throw my hands up into the air in despair.
Before you start refuting evolutionary theory, maybe you should take time to acutally understand the fundamental ideas and evidentiary support the theory is based upon.
I find it particularly laughable that anyone would hold up the human form as a paragon of intelligent design - surely beings of physical perfection wouldn't suffer from poor eyesight, arthritis, hayfever, deformities, mental health problems...the list goes on.
We are surrounded by examples of selective breeding and the ways humans have directly influenced animals and plants such as livestock, dogs, crop plants etc.  It is that difficult to imagine changes in environmental pressures over time resulting in different characteristics becoming essential for survival?
Please at least go away and read some books.

Here is a bit of scientific evidence that I'll bet they don't teach in school. A few years back, two evolutionary scientists by the name of John A. Eddy at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and High Altitude Observatory in Boulder and Abram A. Boomazian a mathematician with a Boston firm, examining data gathered over four centuries, concluded that the sun has been shrinking at a rate of about 0.1% per century, which is equivalent to about five feet per hour. If the rate of the sun's contraction has been constant ( and there is no reason to think otherwise) and one projects historically backward, the sun MUST INCREASE IN SIZE. At 100,000 years ago the sun would have been double its present size. Remember according to evolutionary calculations, man had already been on earth for more than 3 million years at this time. Also at 20 million years B.C. the sun would have been touching the earth. According to the evolutionary time scale the dinosaurs had already been roaming the earth for more than 40 million years. Think about that.

There is nothing "fake" about evolution. It is not a lie, and there is overwhelming evidence to support it. I would like to know what you think should be taught in our public schools?

If you think evolution is fake, how would you explain the ability of viruses and bacteria to mutate into new strains that are more resistant to medications from one year to the next?. Every year new strains of flu evolve from old strains and are more resistant to antibiotics and other medicines. How do you explain the combination of two plants to produce a new one. How would you explain the ability to breed animals in order to eliminate undesirable traits and strengthen those traits that are more desirable? Scientists have been able to produce forms of wheat and corn that are resistant to insect predators, and those that have increased yields. The processes employed to alter plants and animals are forms of evolution that are accelerated and controlled, but evoloution none the less.

you are basically saying that if we get punched in the face we evolve when we think of ways to overcome it and defend ourselves. or when it is too cold for an animal it decides to put on some weight. do you call that evolution? i call it adaption

But evolution is about adaptation. All I intended to say is that evolution is not fake and needs to be taught in school. Any high school that doesn't teach it is going to have a tough time getting it's students into college. Enough already!

Creation is also about adaptation, within its own kind. God set the laws of nature in motion, one of those laws are to produce after their own kind, which we see going on every day,so it should also be taught in school. What we don't see is an animal or plant becoming a completely different kind of animal or plant. If evolution were true we should be seeing new species of animals and plants appearing every day, if not, then why not? Throw a rock into a pond, once set in motion, the ripples in the water are continuous, they don't all of a sudden stop and then start over again, they are constantly coming until they cannot produce any more. Evolution is like those ripples in the pond, it doesn't just stop and then start over again, the animal and plant life should be constantly changing into different kinds of life form. As I have said before we should be seeing new and different kinds of animals and plants on a daily basis but we don't, we only see animals and plants producing AFTER THEIR OWN KIND, just like God had planned in the beginning.

Evolution is true but to a certain degree. It is true that we can evolve. Their is evidence of bacteria mutating or animals adapting to there environment, but they certainly do not change species. Their is a good reason why the whole entire scientific community will not except evolution as a proven idea. But only as a Theory.

I'm not about to state my personal beliefs, however, it is my opinion that evolution should be separated from school. There is no need to indoctrinate our children. Do schools teach Christian, Jewish, or Muslim views? I think not. As such, whether or not evolution is based on fact, it is still a belief, and in its own way, a religion.

Some ppl really don't know what they are talking about, and need to get their facts straight.. God doesn't need evolution... Why would he? It doesn't say anything about it in the bible. And its common sense that he wouldn't need it to evolve his already created humans. Also when it comes to teaching people about evolution in schools, it is a proven fact that evolution has little or no proof that we did indeed evolve(honestly do some research). From what I can tell on the page of comments the only person that hasn't been believing everything that they have been taught in school (evolution) and actually prove that what they believed to be correct through actual facts would be 'Bosco3'.

If we evolved to better adapt to our surroundings, why do we die so easily? When its too cold, too hot, even for no reason we die. Why did we evolve to stand upright when it was obviously better and more efficient to stay on all fours?

There's difference between evolution and the creation of matter.
Say god made the first atoms, those bonded, formed cells, then started to become 2 cells and so on and so on, until man was evolved. God and evolution can exist at the same time you know. You will never hear an evolutionist say that matter was made out of nothing, but that's not their point either. There was 'something', and that 'something' started to adapt, how that 'something' was here in the first place doesn't really matter, maybe it was God, maybe it was someone else.

Besides, if we really want to go that road... Out of what did God make mankind if there was nothing to begin with? Who made God and why is he here...?

Then another thing, 6000 B.C. , time is relative which is a theory that's well defended by good reasoning (which you can do and understand yourself) by Einstein. So what is 6000 B.C anyways?

Again, lets recapitalize, none of these things prove God does not exist, they support evolutionism whilst not attacking God as a whole, maybe some biblical beliefs.

I myself think it's safer to start from zero, then start reasoning myself from everything that I've heard. Thinking the bible is true and then deriving the whole world around it is halftruth, you can never see the world openly.

Enough about evolution.

Why I don't believe in any religion: The 3 main religions, judaism, islam and christianity all overlap on some points. The Koran has Jesus as a prophet, judaism also has Jesus and there are many more examples. Cristianity was born out of Judaism which is a fact, Jesus being a Jew and all, it makes sense they overlap. All of those 3 religions have nearly the same forefathers, isn't that strange? Maybe they were all the same religion some time way back but started to split then.
Catholicism, orthodox christianity, how come they all exist? They're derived from Christianity are they not? Doesn't that mean there are that many religions as there are people that just happen to follow them? (maybe invent them, or just not intentionally...)
Rituals are bound to change over time, people not remembering the exact words and stuff, and slowly a new type of church is born, heck this even starts to sound like evolution o.O As an example: Have you, as a child ever played that game where you stood in a circle with a bunch of other people, one person said a phrase, whispered it to the other, and so on until it reached the last person who then said it out loud? The phrase was different, right? But it started out as something different, the 'true' phrase. If you do that for religion rituals, maybe books that are translated and copied, then you have your other religion derived from the 'true' one. Even if God and all exists, it would mean we don't have the 'true' bible anymore and that spooks me. I mean, what's the point to believe it then. So how am I supposed to know which belief is true if they all have so many similarities, so many people following them. All religions have some sort of hell you go to if you don't believe... So do I just have to take my chances and take whatever belief? I see no point... There's as many chance christianity is wrong as judaism and islam are wrong. So chances are I'm going to hell anyways. So why bother? Also: That rule, the Islam says you can't eat pork, you know why? Because back in the days, Pork was the meat that got bad the fastest from laying in the sun. So it wasn't really a religious statement, it was for healthcare. But still.. NOW it doesn't make sense, yet there are thousands of people that still don't eat pork because of a document that was made up years ago, for the wellbeing of the people. Pork is not drying in the sun on a sweaty table somewhere in the middle of the middle east anymore!

Something made the world, and I believe in that 'creature', 'force', name it you like. And that's what I believe in, my reasoning tells me evolution is right so that something created matter and matter began evolving. But I refuse to believe in most other people made out of that, people that started fantasizing about that 'something', the God, writing stuff down, rewriting it, it's bound to be wrong... NOT entirely, but some missing links here and there. I don't believe in derivatives of a true sense. So that's why I only believe in God in it's simplest form the creationist of matter, the building pieces. So don't believe some book, just start from zero... Think for yourself... What does NOT make sense? What is the true question? :what the heck are these frigging atoms doing here and how did they get up here in the first place. Don't believe a pile of words stored in a book that might be as false as the Koran.

Brainwashing has been done before, just watch "The Third Wave". Make out for yourself how much you could've been influenced so far... It's unreal, so start from zero people. Life a happy life, help other people, it's a nice philosophy and besides... That was the whole point of Jesus

Yes if the muslim religion can wear headdresses where hats aren't allowed in schools than the theory of evolution which is a belief not a science should not be allowed to be taught in schools. Many people find it offensive that it is taught in schools. Its a belief and if creationism is taught in school non believers in god, would go to town on the schools. So if evolution which is a belief is taught in the school than shouldn't kids with the christian belief be exempt fro evolution teachings? The answer is yes! Evolution is fake and should not be allowed to poison the mind of kids who's religion is being prosecuted! Stop the teachings of evolution in the school. Stop the teaching in the school. Lets keep the first amendment in the school setting. If your with me reply to this

I agree that evolution is a bunch of bull. I feel this way because, what-we evolved from bacteria or better yet apes. Okay, yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense. We just popped here out of now where. Better yet,  some say, we have similar DNA strain as apes, but do we have the same?-NO. Some claim these things, but where did the first one come from? It had to be created. In addition, I also do not believe that the earth has been here for millions of years. Resent studies have show that carbon dating is incorrect.  Science is not always as much fact as we would like to believe. We continually go back and change what we believe to be factual because it is discover to be false. We can not be sure that this is the way it all began so why teach about it. If in schools we teach this theory, I cannot understand why we wouldn't teach the theory of God. Or the theory of any possible way we could have gotten here. Whether it involves anyone's God.  It doesn't have to be a religious thing. Nevertheless,  evolution is simply a belief that this is how we got here, so again, why can't all beliefs be taught. There is no science about it. There is no way we just popped here out of no where. So, in conclusion I believe that my Lord Jehovah created us, in fact, there is no question in my mind, and evolution is an evil way to distract us from the truth.

Anyone ever consider that maybe God created the beginning of our species to let it turn into what it is now? Maybe God wanted evolution? Maybe God intended for us to evolve, to make it on our own. Evolution is a proven scientific knowledge that should be taught in schools. I am not saying you are incorrect in your beliefs...that is why there is religion...for belief and faith. The point of religion isn't fighting. If you believe it isn't right, and you you don't want your child to hear it, go to a private catholic school. If others do not agree with you, they obviously will never change their minds so let them believe in peace. I do believe evolution is real because it is scientifically proven. It is fact. And if you do not agree, I am entitled to my opinion. You need to keep an open mind with science. No matter how many quotes you throw at me, in my opinion evolution is REAL. Think about it.
