Actual writing is far more elaborate than the contemporary model of the writing process. Generally the process involves four steps, pre-writing, drafting, revision and reiterative editing. In pre-writing you gather data, collate information, conduct interviews, brain storm and basically develop a structure and model based on which actual drafting would proceed. Drafting is the challenging part because the thoughts and feelings you invoke may differ from what you originally intended. It is actually drafting where the main body of the process takes place, the steps that follow there on are what you take to make it more reader centered. Clearing ambiguities on the subject matter is important because the actual message runs the risk of getting lost in translation. To be an effective writer one has to first stop being judgmental about their own work, they can work out the kinks in revision and editing. Besides, if you are precise about what it is that you intend to convey through your draft that final hurdle may be overcome as well.
