3x-2y=15 3x+2y=7 6x     = 22 therefore x = 22/6 = 3.67 now substitute the x into either one or both to solve for y and you should get the same answer for y.  3(22/6) - 2y = 15  ==>  66/6 - 2y = 15  ==> 11 - 2y = 15  ==> -2y = 4 ==> -y = 2  ==> y = -2 3(22/6) + 2y = 7 ==>  66/6 + 2y = 7  ==>  11+ 2y = 7  ==>  2y = -4 ==>  y= -2  It is confirmed that x=22/6 or 3.67 and y= -2
