What Are The Disadvantages Of CBSE CCE?

The biggest disadvantage of the Central Board of Secondary Education Continuous Comprehensive Learning programme is the grading system that it uses. Students scoring 90 marks and 99 marks respectively will still both attain an A* grade, so it could be described as unfair for the student scoring the higher mark.

One other shortcoming is the fact that huge numbers of students are grouped together. For example, last year there were 348 students in Navi Mummbai at Universal Tutorials all scoring more than 90 per cent. It is possible that a scenario will emerge wherein all students scoring above, say, 91 per cent in all subjects will have the same cumulative grading. This poses the problem of how do you rank them? What will the admission process for the Standard XI based on?

In an attempt to address the problem a percentile mark has been introduced by the board. The percentile of a student indicates the position or rank of the student in percentage form. The top ranked student will get a percentile of 100. This is calculated by the formula, 'Number of students below student X 100 divided by (total no of students -1). However, this in itself brings its own setback. The grading system may actually lead to more stress and disincentive to performance.

In addition to CBSE, Secondary School Certificates by state boards and those governing the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education are also conducting exams for Standard X and continue to follow the marks system and percentage of mark in each subject. Marks percentage and percentile are not comparable. This leads to an open ended situation particularly for the Standard XI admission process and those seeking admission from CBSE to other boards. This issue is still to be resolved and a decision needs to be made regarding how it will be tackled.

This is a terrible system!! I hate it. We have so much work. Most of the teachers are unable to finish their portions as time is wasted for activities, projects, assignments etc. They just rush through the portion without making the students understand and then they give a whole load of projects and homeworks. And the cycle starts all over again. You are forced to participate in all the events, even the ones that you hate. A child who can't sing is forced to make a fool of himself or herself. Can anyone tell me how this is going to "develop their confidence"? Please remember that  students go for extra classes as well. We do not have a moment to spare. Even during holidays, a heap of projects and homeworks are given. I hate this system to the core!!!!

Worse because
1)student getting 99 and 90 gets A1 so no difference..
2)loads of projects,activities ect..
3)student Don't get enough time for self study and for preparing for competitive exams and extra studies
4)students who  is not a good speaker has to do activities and lose marks
5)no positives for cce
maybe we should raise voice to remove it

The new grading system seems very unfair,an excellent student will get the same marks as  a good student,I go against this type of grading system,...whoever made this system does not know what we are going through, what is his problem, already work is becoming heavy and he had to come pour it in,

In spite of reducing stress of studies on students this system was introduced by indian educational minister mr kapil sibal . But this system resulted in concentrating student's towards their assignments and projects rather than their studies.students takes their studies lightly as they had maked themselves dependent on formattives . Grading system is another drawback of cce .a student scoring 90 marks and a student scoring 99 marks will both be compared equal as they both will get a2 .another thing is that cce  grantees  that no students will fail but does not grantees that they will get  jobs to them .cce had reduced syllabus ,students feels that it is good for them because they will have to study less but they do not know that this will create many problems for them in future. Cce is just trying to show that india is becoming literate as no students fails.

And those students who likes cce are actually poor in their studies and are interested to waste their time in creating projects of only 5 marks ,where they can utilize same time  in their studies to obtain 80-90% in their exams

The main prob is thatthe student who gets 91 gets A1 and the person who gets 100 also gets A1. So the students don't seem to be aiming for 100 marks but for A1 grade.

Loss of competition and future degradation of a student...
Children make projects out of force and not from will.Hence, personality grooming has no point...
Moreover, a kind of oppression prevails around in the name of cce...

More burden...
How can you assess a person's skill, his talents on a mere 5-point grading scale?
Lessens competition...
A person has to give many competitive tests in  later life.....if he is not used to it,how can he manage the papers!!

Firstly there are no board exams
secondly,it has created an equal level between those who work hard for academics and those who don't.
Thirdly, the sense of competition has vanished.
Fourthly, students now have to do all kinds of non-academic work as they are forced as marks are based on them only.

I am not into CCE either because if one person gets 98% and d other student gets 92% i.e. Less than d first person, both of them get the same grade which is unfair for d students.

The system is very unfair because:
1) Students who are weak and do not work hard get nice marks

2) It is a sort of system which discourages students who are working hard

3) Students who are good in other activities get happiness in all spheres of life they also get good marks whereas those who work hard in studying don't get anything.

I feel that everything has bad as well as good aspects. Similarly CCE has provided an overall development of students but has also reduced the quality of knowledge and skill.

Just imagine what would happen when a student who not even know the basic thing will be given some responsibilities, then he will ruin the life of hundreds and that hundred will demolish the whole country.

It's good system to see when you already have given Boards and don't have a single chance to try it (CCE). Otherwise, most of the children who are taylor-made for studies are having some problems. Making good impression on new teachers will never disclose who_so_ever is more eligible only for studies. Making good cover page will fade out the material written in the projects of toppers. How can your result depends on what you wear, how you behave. Its a matter of common observation that students had studied more in tuitions in comparision of school have scored good marks. So in simple words (for students who study in tuitions and score 95%) it's rubbish for them. Otherwise system is nice and I'll appreciate MR. Kapil Sibal for innovative ideas.
