The program is designed to provide an opportunity to a large segment of in-service nurses to upgrade their knowledge and skills, in order to respond to the changing health needs of society. The example that we are giving you is a three year course of 108 credits (40 of those credits are theory, while the remaining 68 are practical) offered by IGNOU, The People's University. 23 colleges of nursing in the country are listed as program study centers. In addition to this, there are also study centers in the Seychelles and the Maldives. Each study center has only 40 places available at each and the course comprises of 11 theory elements and 11 practical assignments.

  • Eligibility
In order to be eligible for this course, you must have 10+2 with diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. Also, you must have two years of work experience.

  • Program fee
The fee for the program is 11,000 RS. Per year. However it should be noted that this is a guide price only and fees are subject to change. Therefore, students should check with admissions for the exact cost.

  • Selection
The selection for the program is generally done on merit. This is mainly based on the performance of the prospective student on their General Nursing and Midwifery course. Prospective students are then awarded one additional 'point' per year of experience beyond the minimum requirement, up to a maximum of 20 points.

  • Admission details
Admission notification is generally released in May/June and the deadline for submission will be September 30 for the January session and March 31 for the July session.
