Keele is a village located in northern Staffordshire, England. It is also a civil parish. It has an Anglo-Saxon name which means "cow hill". It is approximately at a distance of (5 km) to the west of Newcastle-under-Lyme, and is situated very near to the village of Silverdale. Silverdale is famous for its colliery. Keele University is based in the Keele village.

This village has considerable charm and its parish has a population of 3,664 in 2001, most of whom were students at Keele University. This university was established in the year 1949 and is a research-intensive campus university. It falls between Manchester and Birmingham in England. Keele also boasts of a motorway service area on the M6.
