Criteria
- The basic criteria for LIC agent's job is that you must be 18 years of age and must have completed your twelfth standard examination.
- There are many institutions that provide training for insurance.
- As insurance has become a necessary part of life, it has become a sunshine industry.
- It has become a lucrative career choice for many people.
- For becoming a LIC agent, you need to complete training period of 100 hours from any LIC branch nearest to your location.
- You need to visit the branch and meet with the Developmental Officer (DO). The DO will conduct an informal interview to test if you are a suitable candidate for LIC.
- If he is satisfied with the interview, he will ask you to undergo insurance training which will be given by competent LIC staff.
- Once you complete the training, you can give the pre-licensing exam which is conducted by IRDA i.e. Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority.
- You can give this exam as per your convenience. You will be given insurance license if you pass this exam.
- The LIC examination fee is very nominal. You just have to pay Rs. 50 for the examination along with other documentation.
- The other documentation includes a filled examination form, 2 passport size photographs, photocopy of your photo id such as driver's license, passport, residential proof like electricity bill or telephone bill and your degree certificate of the last exam passed.
- It's important for a LIC agent to be self motivated.
- He must possess excellent communication skills and convincing power.
- LIC is beneficial for all individuals; however, it takes some convincing to make people realize the importance of LIC. This job can also be done part time if you already have a full-time job.
- A LIC agent gets excellent commission for every policy made.
