I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but an old name for the traditional game of "skipping stone" is "ducks and drakes." Anyway that's what they used to call it in parts of England. I think it was even an idiom way back in the 18th or 19th century: "to play at ducks and drakes" with something, eg money, implied that you didn't use it wisely. Not very positive I suppose, but the phrase itself, applied to the game, is OK.
