By adding all your grades together and dividing it by the number of grades

ex) 100
96
100

the total is 296 and you divide that by 3 because 3 is the number of grades you have. Therefore your grade average is 98.6 which sums um to 99

I assume this is on a 4.0 point scale. Also assumed is that you don't have + or - grading, only A,B,C etc.
A=4.0
B=3.0
C=2.0
D=1.0
F=0.0

Pass/Fail courses are usually just given a 2.0, but most Middle Schools give grades for their classes.

Add up the points for all your classes, then divide that number by the number of classes you've taken. It will give you your decimal point answer.

For Example
U.S. History : A=4
English: B=3
P.E. B=3
Pre-algebra: B=3
elective (Band) B=3
Science A=4
4+3+3+3+3+4=20
20/6= 3.333
