• it has been able to construct an anti neoliberal pole around which progressive peasant movements could identify locally, nationally and internationally – formally and informally
• Vía Campesina has been able to construct an alternative rallying point for agrarian reform: One that is founded on the human rights of peasants
• by questioning both the substance and process of neoliberal rural development policies, it has forced the World Bank and other international institutions to, at least partially, review its policies and acknowledge their impact and influence
• it has partially eroded the traditional monopoly of the World Bank and other international institutions on access to and control over local and regional information relating to agrarian reform and the peasantry
• collectively, these has contributed, and will continue to contribute, towards the formation of a collective identity among poor peasants
