Why Must The Remainder Be Less Than The Divisor?

It should be less because if you put a greater number and add to check it will not be correct.

The remainder must be less than the divisor because if the remainder is added the quotient or sum will be greater than the number being divided by

Because if the remainder is greater that you can divide with it
