Since a centimeter is smaller than a meter, the decimal point will move to the right so that the number is higher.

Since there is 100 centimeters in 1 meter. You would move the decimal point to the right 2 places. The 1st place to the right would convert the number in to decimeters, and 2nd place to the right would convert the number into the number of centimeters.

(And since we are moving to the right, the 3rd place would convert to millimeters.).
(that would show that there is 1000 mm in a meter)
