You can get the copy of the GED Diploma by sending a request for a duplicate copy of your record in writing. You didn't mention either you took the test in Canada or America.

You have to fill in the "Request for GED Transcript and/or Diploma Form" and send to the office with small fee.

When I had to get mine to enroll in college, I had to go my state's Department of Workforce Education. If your state doesn't have one try the Department of Education. All I needed was my basic information and the city and year I received my certificate. Hope that's helpful!

If you got the GED in Kentucky the link below is for GED diploma and transcript request forms for the state of Kentucky. You question said you lost it in KY not that it was issued in KY. If you got it in another state then call the state GED office of that state and ask them to send you a request form or search for it on line like I did with KY

Tests taken in the 1980s might not exist anymore.  In CA a number of them are gone forever.  The alternative is to simply retake the test.  Stuck is stuck.  One can whine or be a go-getter.  It's a baby boomer crisis right now and the younger need to be alert.  G.E.D.s don't last and do soundly vanish into antiquity.  There is no warning when those are lost regardless of how secure the present situation appears.  Beware the nonsensical that mutter, "You have some college so it doesn't matter anymore."  It does.  To be a Travel Agent you must, to apply for scholarships you must, etc.  I'm in the same boat and am not beside myself to spend $100-$200 to retake it.
