The outfield is one of the most important positions. As you you get older there is a lot more action in the outfield because hitters are usually hitting the ball pretty well by that age. If there are runners on the bases and there is a hit to the outfield you want someone out there that can catch it or the runners will advance or maybe score. A good outfielder is priceless.

I also played right field, there are a lot of people who think if you play that position its the place  that girls r put when they suck, Not true. Any place you play is a key position, If you want to go after 3rd base, don't quit, keep going, I felt the same way you are feeling right now. Have fun and don't let a coach change you're mind about anything. You can do anything you set you're mind to.

Good luck.

Yeah sorry chica got the same problem but the right field is more important. Just think about it. Right is suppose to be backing up 1st for the over throw which seems to happen a lot. Right field is way more important than 3rd anyway. Your coach just trust that you can back up your teammates.
Just have fun

Hey I do in baseball and in my league most kids hit there. When coach's put a kid in the outfield it usually means that they (the kid or adult) have a arm that they value and that they also value how they catch the ball

Hopefully I helped.

No, it doesn't mean you suck. My coach usually puts the players out there that can throw the farthest. So I get put out there a lot because my team sucks at having a cut off player, so I have to be able to throw all the way in.

No you don't my dad coaches my softball team and he says when people get strong enough to hit the the ball to the outfield the person who plays there has to be able to run, catch pop ups, and throw to home.
Good Luck with 3rd

At a younger age right field is not very important. As you move up in the ranks / age more and more balls get hit out there. It is a position for someone with good speed and an arm. Also they are counted on for a good bat on the offensive side.

Third Base requires a totally different skill set.

Look at it this way you were good enough to make the team...
At least you are not the 10th player roving outfielder.

Do not be discouraged it is just as important and sometimes more valuable the faster the pitcher the more likely batters will swing later. Also when you get older many people can place hit so keep on trucking and by no means ever give up instead keep practicing like every ball is the game winning ball and hustle every chance you get. Also work on enhancing your batting and you will continue to become more valuable.
