For example in construction, with the use of perimeter we can know how many materials we need.

No, perimeter means the distance around something.So it does not help see how many meterials you need. But it can help you with the measurment hassle during consructing/building the building.For example architects use perimeter when they design buildings.You were/are greatly mistaken!
