As a reader critical thinking is very important. For example, if you were studying history it would help you if you good see how events relate to each other or affect other events. Science becomes more understandable when you can think critically about what you are studying. It gets you to a deeper level and a better grasp of what you are reading. When reading just for fun you are able to look beyond the words you are reading and bring a correlation between events and characters and it is is more interesting than just reading the words and only thinking about what it says right there. As a writer it is very important to be able to think critically. You must be able to think ahead in developing plots, characters, and relationships. You must be able to make sure you location and what the people say and do are correlated. You must become that character and think as they would and that takes critical thinking. BELIEVE ME it is important!!!!

As a reader: It enables you to appreciate the written word; appreciate nuances; improve vocabulary and speech.

As a writer: Your work will, over time. Be better edited and better tailored to match the appreciation of your target audience.

In my opinion it can save you a lot of trouble in real life sitiations/or storylines...sort of like a episode of stargate when they said the person could go through walls because they were out of phase(could walk through walls like they were not there) so why did the person(actor)not fall through the floors....DOH!

Critical thinking is basically the process of mental analysis and evaluation of a topic. Thus it deeply effects a person as a writer and reader. When a person is a critical thinker, he would form a solid judgment through which he would use scientific judgment with his common sense. A critical thinker gather information from his verbal and written expressions, experience, observation, reflection and most of all his sense of reasoning. Thus it helps the reader/writer to improve his work.
