A literate person has greater options in life and more opportunities to succeed since they have the capability to do good jobs. They can live comfortably and provide better for their children. They can also gain new knowledge since they have access to all kinds of information through their ability to read. They can keep up with the times and walk in step with the latest technological trends whereas an illiterate person can only stand and marvel at them. An illiterate person has limited opportunities in life, due to lack of education. He cannot make use of the latest technology nor can he hope to climb the social ladder. He is not aware of his rights as an individual and is often exploited for lack of this awareness.
