You are able to take your learner permit test in Arabic within the USA and the UK but in the USA it depends on which state you live in. A learner’s permit is a restricted licence that is given to a person who is learning to drive but has not yet obtained a full driver’s licence. To receive a learner’s permit you must pass a written test about rules of the road and this test can be available to complete in Arabic when given due notice to the centre where you are sitting the exam.

Regarding the actual driving test it is possible, as of July 2010, to do your driving licence test in Arabic in 14 of the 50 U.S. States. Before you make a test appointment for your licence be sure to contact your DMV to confirm it offers tests in Arabic. The problem in these states is the lack of driver’s education and driving training courses offered in Arabic. Fortunately, there are many independent companies focused on driver’s education out there that can help you locate a study manual and practise test - both in Arabic - so you can prepare for the real test.

The states that provide the driver's licence test in Arabic are Alabama, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio and Rhode Island. In the UK you should be able to take your driving test in Arabic by request a voiceover for your driving test. This will let you hear the instructions and any questions through headphones. Please contact your local DVLA office before sitting the test to find out the service available in your area.
