Remember that a gallon must be multiplied by 8.345 to get the weight in pounds, and hence, this is how you go about performing this equation.

Pounds are a measure of weight, whilst gallons are a measure of volume. However, despite the differences, by using the above equation it is possible to convert pounds into gallons, and gallons back into pounds. If you know the weight per gallon of the liquid, it’s easy to perform the conversion.

The most common liquid that is used in these conversions is water. 1 gallon of water weights around 8.345.

Hence, if you know the volume of the water or liquid in gallons, and multiply it by 8.345, you can find out the weight in pounds. Equally, if you know what the weight of the water is in pounds, you need to divide that by 8.345 in order to get the volume in gallons.

Let’s use an example. For instance, say you are at the gym and you are able to bench press a weight of 150 lbs. This is the same as lifting a certain amount of water, but how much? Well, if we convert pounds to gallons, we would be dividing a number by 8.345. Hence, you will be able to lift the equivalent of 17.975 gallons of water.

Many websites, however, can make this much easier for you. Websites will give you calculators that are able to convert things for you so that you literally do not have to bother with working things out yourself. Simply go on a search engine like Google or Bing, and type in all the information about the calculation you are trying to make. Then type in the figures and see what results you are given. You will be given your answer in one of the first results, no doubt.

There is no direct conversion of pounds to gallons as gallons are measure of space whereas a pound is a measure of gravitational attraction. There are also other factors like temperature and atmospheric pressure that will not allow the conversion.

One gallon is 132 fluid ounces. One pound is 16 ounces. Take 132 and divide by 16 and you get 8 pounds. There as one gallon equals 8 pounds. Take your 400 gallons and multiply by 8 pounds per gallon and you get 3200 pounds.
Your answer is 3,200 pounds.

It's 8.25, not 8 when you divide 132 by 16, do the math correctly. Plus, he said 400 lbs not gallons. Besides, pounds cannot be converted to gallons due to the fact that when you change gallons and pounds into ounces, pounds becomes dry ounces while gallons become fluid ounces.

Consider this problem: The primary raw material used in paint production is latex. The list price for latex is $13.50 per pound.  If the firm uses more than 150,000 pounds annually they qualif0my for a 10% discount; 450 pounds of latex are needed to produce 1000 gallons of traffic paint.  So if last year the firm produced 342,000 gallons of traffic paint, how many pounds of latex are in 342,000 gallons?
