The answer is 72 because 36 times 2=72 and 24 times 3 =72

First Find the factors of both 24 and 36....24-factors are 2&12.. 2&6...2&3....36-factors are 2&18..2&9...3&3...To find the LCM first match up the prime numbers that are on both 24 and 36. Like this 24=2x2x2x3...36=2x2x3x3..... Pair them up you get 2x2x3=12 this is the highest common factor. To find LCM you times the HCF by the numbers that are remaining which are 2 and 3...So LCM= HCF (12)x2x3= 72

  =864/12  
  =72
    GCD is greatest common divisor  
    GCD of 24 and 36 is 12

24 = 1,2,3,4,6,8,12,24

36 = 1,2,3,4,6,9,12, 18, 36
