If you're looking to break into the lucrative and stable field of healthcare, there is no better way other than a college education to get into the field than to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and get paid while you get free training which can help you advance your career.

If you are a Massachusetts resident between the ages of seventeen and twenty one, you can receive free training if you can prove that you're in a low income group. The Workforce and Continuing Education Department of the state of Massachusetts provides this service. It can even help you pay for uniforms and other related expenses. If you are a parent, you may even qualify for assistance with your childcare while you are in training.

There are also other options you can pursue. Call any nursing facility in your area as many of them have their own programs where you can work and earn money while you are in training. CNA's are in high demand in all types of care facilities throughout the country, and that demand is only going to grow as the population ages. Once you complete your training, if you are hired on as a Medicare or Medicaid certified nursing care provider, you can get reimbursed for all of your tuition and related expenses.

In the state of Massachusetts, if you are unemployed or have a very low income level, you may be able to qualify for grants and financial assistance to train for a new career in the field. So, if you're a resident of the state of Massachusetts, and are looking into the field of health care, you have several good options for starting or changing a career, and it won't cost you near as much as a college education or trade school.

Call nursing homes in your area. Many of them offer free CNA training and even pay you while you train. You may be obligated to work for them a certain amount of time after they train you. You can also contact your local red cross office. They offer training for $800. Full time it takes about a month or you can do it part-time for two months.

Honestly, try Cape Cod, we do have a lot of free CNA classes offered by the ample amount of nursing rehabilitation and retirement home, and many are guaranteed jobs. I don't know if you can travel, but Cape Cod I know for sure is a retirement community and desperate for people in the medical field.

I need CNA training, but can't afford it. I have done what everyone has said and called all the nursing homes around my area in Malden and I can say it's all crap. NONE of them offer it.  Too much wishful thinking here, especially the one where that Dee90 user said they pay you while you train. That is so FUNNY! You need money to get the guaranteed job and apparently google isn't helping either...

You can also check the CNA Training Courses website which has quite a bit of information on various free courses you can take to get certified as well as cost on the Red cross training, and various programs they have in states for those who are underprivileged.

Many times it is offered by the company that is hiring CNAs, also Voke/Tech schools.
You can check with the MA. Nursing Board for names.  Good Luck!
