In order to reference a white paper in the Harvard Style, you need to know which aspects of the paper will need to be referenced and in what order.
The following is generally the order in which you will need to reference the various aspects of a white paper. Keep in mind that if any facet is unavailable, you simply move on to the next point:
- government department,
- publication year,
- title,
- online reference,
- paper number,
- place of publication,
- the publisher and the URL.
This is an example of a Harvard Style referencing derived from Worcester University:
“Department of Health (2004) Choosing Health: Making healthier choices easier. CM6374. London, TSO (The Stationery Office). Department for Education (2010) The importance of teaching: The schools White Paper 2010. [Online] CM7980. London, The Stationery Office. Available from: https://www.education.gov.uk/ publications//eOrderingDownload/CM 7980.pdf [Accessed 27 May 2011]”
