Literature is all about life - in fiction, poetry, drama etc authors recreate life, analyse it, try to understand it or concentrate on certain aspects of it. Or they may create an ideal world as an escape from, or a form of criticism of, the world around them. Also, sometimes literature has a direct influence on real life - this may be as simple as someone taking a character in a story as a role model, or or much larger influences - eg a combination of non-fiction accounts of slavery, and fictional accounts such as Uncle Tom's Cabin, played a huge role in ending this evil in the US.
