I always put these in function form.

6X - 4Y = 96

- 4Y = - 6X + 96

Y = 3/2X - 24
------zero out the variables in turn

3/2X - 24 = 0

3/2X = 24

X = 16
------

Y = 3/2(0) - 24

Y = - 24
------

Y intercept = (0, - 24)

X intercept = (16, 0)

Of course zeroing out can be done as is, but I like to see the function.

Divide by 96 to put the equation in intercept form.
  6x/96 - 4y/96 = 1
  x/16 + y/(-24) = 1

The x-intercept is (16, 0) and the y-intercept is (0, -24).
