i use the slope y-intercept method. The y-intercept formula is y+mx+b where m equals the slope and b equals the y-intercept. So in this example the slope is 1/4 and the y-intercept is -3/4.
So on the graph start out at the y-intercept of -3/4 (0,-3/4) and then use your slope of 1/4 to finish it. Slope is rise over run so you would rise one from -3/4 then run right 4 and that is your next point. The table of values is also easy. In that you would just plug in a value for x and solve for y for each point you want to graph.
