A pre-launch concert for the 2011 Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) was hosted by Daddy Lumba on April 16 with performances by Becca, Kofi Bee, Okuraseni and Sarkodie Oroudly, at the Trade Fair centre in Labadi.
This was especially to mark GIMPA’s Golden Jubilee when the joint initiative between the Ghana government and the United Nationals was founded in 1961 with a special fund provided to establish a public administrative system, called back then as Ghana’s Institute of Public Administration.
The idea was to train and provide civil servants to a degree of professional and administrative competence in order that they would plan and administer local, national and regional service and take the African nation forward.
Five years after the launch the successful initiative went solo as sponsorship ended and the Ghana government took full control from the UN and in 1969 it became the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration to fully reflect its new status and wider role.
GIMPA’s courses are highly sought after and are seen as the leading development centre in terms of management and administration in Ghana with a view to be recognized as a world leader in its field.
To recognize their work and competence, successful students are awarded, certificates, diplomas and degrees right up to be awarded a doctorate
Training course cover all aspects in leadership, management and administration, and there are courses in policy analysis, consultancy and research along with distance learning programmes.
GIMPA’s high quality programmes and customized educational approach along with outstanding services, facilities and student-centred faculties, have been credited with contributing greatly to Ghana’s national development.
Some GIMPA courses started in May.
