Improving your vocabulary in any language can seem like quite a daunting task, mainly because the results aren't immediately noticeable. That doesn't mean your vocabulary isn't improving, though - it's just not something that's easy to measure.

- Read comic books, or BDs (bandes dessinées). This can be a particularly good way to improve your French vocabulary because the images will help you to understand the text. Comic books are really popular in France, so you'll have a wide range of subject matter to choose from.
- Watch cartoons. This might be a little difficult at first, as cartoon characters tend to speak quite quickly and in squeaky voices, but if you watch the same episodes over and over, you should learn something!
- Read books that are below your usual reading level, but which still interest you. For example, if you like romance novels, read ones aimed at teenagers instead of adults. Usually, you'll be able to pick up the meaning of words from the context, but you can always use a translation dictionary if you can't!
