How to be CNA Qualified
How to be CNA Qualified
- In order to become a Certified Nursing Assistant you will have to complete a course that will require you to pass an evaluation test. Once you have the CNA status you will be able to care for disabled or injured patients within hospitals or care homes in the state of Tennessee. You will also be qualified to work in mental health wards and in some cases will be able to become a direct care worker.
- In Tennessee the CNA courses will begin every 6 to 8 weeks, however you should check with the facility to be certain. You also need to keep in mind that some courses operate in a semester format like in schools and colleges. Therefore you may be forced to wait for a few months until the new semester starts because you can't just jump into a term that's already begun.
- The training courses can be as much as $800 or at a lower rate of $400. It varies state by state, so again I urge you to contact the training facilities in Jackson. However, refresher courses in this area of Tennessee tend to cost around $100 to $200. You may be able to gain a scholarship or funding from the CNA course itself, or you could apply for financial aid from community agencies such as Human Services. In addition, you may get your fees reimbursed at the end of the course but that depends on the CNA employers you will be learning under.
